Sorry to quibble but Henry's last goal would be Sunderland even if they didn't take away the Blackburn goal, because the Sunderland match was the week AFTER Blackburn.

Also: "It could have all went so horribly wrong but instead it cemented his place in Arsenal history and gave the statue makers some work to do outside the Emirates." The statue was unveiled before we signed him on loan.

All the more reason to be out summer shopping done nice and early, for price, for RvP's contract and for our performance in those early months. Without the games during e transfer windows, we'd probably have won the league, given we didn't take a single point in January!

Not sure yet about writing during the Euros - for me, you need passion to write, and I'm not sure I can get worked up enough about an England team that over promises, under delivers, and contains characters like Cole and Terry. Patriotism may yet overcome me, of course, when the red and white widrawal symptoms kick in...

I don't disagree at he hasn't had enough seasons here yet (or ever!) but in both the last two, he has hauled us over the line, at times single-handedly. 18 months or pure, unmatched quality. Even if you look at his 8 years overall, he averages 12 goals a season, which considering he has only played more than half the games in a season twice and was only 21 when he joined the club, well it isn't too bad!

The way I look at it is he is 29 this summer, and too good a player to not win things. I can understand at as a dream of his (not convinced you can be a truly world-class player without that drive and ambition) and that's why I say, whoever he wants us to buy, Arsene should pretty much just go out and make it happen.

I'm sure he will feel he owes a certain debt to Arsene, and will be looking for reasons to stay, unlike those who left last summer, and we're looking for reasons to do so.

great read as always helen, it's been a funny old season. I still have an overiding sense of frustration from our start - 19 points behind at season end, 15 behind after month 2. were we really 4 points off champions form for the past 6 months?

anyway, are you blogging for the euro's too? or keeping it exclusively Arse?

you say van persies a servant hes only played one full season .he wants to get his head down sign a new contract and show some loyalty to the club thats stood by him while hes spent well over half his arsenal career on the sidelines

Nice write up! I wonder if next season, assuming we recover Bartley from Rangers, we might try moving Verm to a defensive midfield position and partner Kos with Mert. Verm is a great player, but I don't think he is a central defender, as our goals allowed tally this season indicates!

Very nicely put. Letters 'G' and 'I' stand out for me. Gary Neville was a revelation.If we had a chance to vote pundits before they are appointed by SKY, Gary would have been overwhelmingly voted out.Another lesson that we should never judge a book by its cover. For the letter 'I'...how we suffered the loss of Jack.His presence would surely have been worth the 19 points that seperate us from the top but in Robin being fit all season, we got away with 'murder' there...37 EPL stats,38 EPL games,not even a hamstring strain.It fairly balanced the equation of Jack's loss to a degree.Bring on NEXT SEASON!!
